Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF, or WordPerfect document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.

  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal.
  • If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review have been followed.

Author Guidelines

Author Guidelines for the Journal of Islamic Education Studies

  1. General Criteria for Articles:

    • Articles must be original works that have not been published previously in any journal or publication.
    • The subject matter should align with the journal's focus, namely studies on Islamic Education or Islamic Educational practices.
  2. Types of Articles:

    • Articles may include field research results, literature reviews, or reflective studies on thoughts in the context of Islamic Education.
  3. Structure for Research Articles:

    • Title: The title should be concise yet informative, clearly indicating the main focus or findings of the research. It should not exceed 20 words.

    • Author Information: Include the full name(s) of the author(s), institutional affiliations, and contact information (email addresses). If there are multiple authors, indicate the corresponding author.

    • Abstract:

      • A concise summary of the article in 150-200 words.
      • Should briefly describe the purpose of the research, the methodology used, the key findings, and the main conclusions.
      • Abstracts must be provided in both Bahasa Indonesia and translated into English or Arabic.
    • Keywords: List 2-10 keywords that capture the main themes or topics of the article. These keywords should facilitate easy indexing and online searchability.

    • Introduction:

      • Introduce the topic and set the context for the research.
      • Clearly state the research question or hypothesis.
      • Review relevant literature briefly to situate the research within the existing body of knowledge.
      • Outline the significance and potential impact of the research.
    • Problem Statement (should appear in Introduction):

      • Detail the specific problem or research gap that the study addresses.
      • Justify the necessity of the research.
    • Methodology (should appear in Introduction)::

      • Describe the research design, including the type of research (qualitative, quantitative, mixed-methods).
      • Explain the data collection methods (surveys, interviews, experiments, etc.) and data sources.
      • Discuss the procedures for data analysis.
      • Address any ethical considerations, if applicable.
    • Results and Discussion:

      • Present the findings in a clear, logical sequence.
      • Use tables, figures, and charts where appropriate.
      • Discuss how the results answer the research question or fill the identified gap.
      • Compare and contrast the findings with existing literature.
    • Conclusion:

      • Summarize the main findings and their implications.
      • Discuss the limitations of the study.
      • Suggest directions for future research.
    • References:

      • List all sources cited in the article in accordance with the Turabian Style 8th Edition.
      • Ensure all references are complete and accurate.
    • Structure for Reflective Studies:

      • Follows the same structure as research articles, with the discussion focusing on the analysis of the theme rather than empirical research findings.
  4. Formatting Guidelines:

    • Manuscripts should be typed in Microsoft Word, A4 paper format.
    • Use Cambria font, size 12, with 1.15 line spacing.
    • The word count should be between 6000-9000 words.

  5. Citation and Referencing Style:

    • Use footnotes for citations, adhering to the Turabian Style 8th Edition.
    • Detailed guidelines on citation and footnote format can be found in the Turabian Style 8th Edition.
  6. Templates and Supplementary Information:

    • Writing templates and additional information can be downloaded here.
  7. Transliteration of Arabic:

    • Follow the transliteration guidelines set by the Institute of Islamic Studies, McGill University.
    • Ensure the Times New Arabic font is installed prior to applying transliteration.
