Sufism needs to be integrated in the curriculum of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) as it can affect the process of shaping students' attitudes, behaviors and characters. This article explains the importance of Sufism values combined with PAI materials. Through a literature review of the Junior High School (SMP) Islamic Religious Education books for grades VII-IX, using a content analysis approach, it was found that the PAI materials in general were still textual in nature, and lacked the insertion of Sufism values. Hence, it is urgent to integrate Sufism values into the Islamic Education curriculum, especially at the junior high school level because junior high school students are prone to experiencing moral crises and the process of searching for identity. Gradually, the steps of Sufism which need to be carried out in delivering the PAI materials in junior high school are takhalli (cleansing oneself from bad qualities), tahalli (filling the heart with good qualities), and tajalli (opening of divine light that permeate into oneself). The integration of Sufism values into the Islamic Education curriculum can shape students’ good attitudes and behaviors. Thus, learning PAI material becomes more effective in shaping noble morals for students.
Amir Maliki Abitolkha Ali Mas'ud Copyright (c) 2021 Jurnal Pendidikan Agama Islam (Journal of Islamic Education Studies) http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/4.0 2021-07-31 2021-07-31 9 1 1 16 10.15642/jpai.2021.9.1.1-16 Conceptualizing Integration of Islamic Education and Education in General at UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta http://jurnalpai.uinsby.ac.id/index.php/jurnalpai/article/view/986
UIN Jakarta, with its distinct characteristics, focuses on integrating Islamic and general education as a unity. This research focuses on the oldest faculty: The Faculty of Educational Sciences (FITK, hereafter). This study aims to a) explore the concept of integration of Islamic and general education at FITK, and b) find out the extent to which lecturers at FITK understand the concept of integration. The approach used in this research was phenomenology. It employed the qualitative method to describe the concept of integration of Islamic and general education and reveal the extent of lecturers' understanding of scientific integration. The results showed that at the conceptual level, the paradigm of reintegration of Islamic and general education is an integration of Islamic knowledge and values, which is two-way: from secular sciences to Islamic values and from conventional Islamic religious materials to secular sciences. The study also found that scientific integration has long been present in the FITK academic environment. However, the concept of scientific integration itself does not appear to be a uniformity which causes many different interpretations from each study program, even from lecturers in the FITK environment. In addition, the concept of scientific integration has not been fully understood by each leader in the academic community of UIN Jakarta, mainly due to the lack of socialization and no appointment for specific institutions responsible for managing this integration process.
Sururin Sururin Mundzir Suparta Didin Nuruddin Hidayat Syahirul Alim Dhuha Hadiyansyah Arif Zamhari Copyright (c) 2021 Jurnal Pendidikan Agama Islam (Journal of Islamic Education Studies) http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/4.0 2021-07-31 2021-07-31 9 1 17 38 10.15642/jpai.2021.9.1.17-38 Starting from Kerbung and Ending in Pesantren: The Analysis of the Track Record of the Emergence of Pesantren in Lombok http://jurnalpai.uinsby.ac.id/index.php/jurnalpai/article/view/957
The people of Lombok have recognized the term of Kerbung prior than Pesantren (Islamic Boarding School). Kerbung was the Islamic boarding school (hereafter pesantren) of Lombok’s Society. However, both Kerbung and Pesantren are Islamic educational institutions rooted in the history and culture of Indonesia. The track record of the emergence of Pesantren in Lombok was associated with the revival of Islam in the late 19th century. It was marked by the growth of recitation centers, as can be found in Pagutan, Kediri, Batubangka Sakra, Praya, Sesela, Sekarbela and Tanjung (East Lombok). Besides, more than 2000 intellectual works of Lombok's Muslims were also found at that time. Some of these manuscripts were used as references by the tuan guru for their students. This research is field research with a qualitative paradigm. This study found that the track record of the emergence of pesantren in Lombok was an integration of the Islamic educational system in Lombok, Java and the Middle East. However, the emergence of pesantren in Lombok was inseparable from the founding fathers of the pesantren itself.
Murdianto Copyright (c) 2021 Jurnal Pendidikan Agama Islam (Journal of Islamic Education Studies) http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/4.0 2021-07-31 2021-07-31 9 1 39 58 10.15642/jpai.2021.9.1.39-58 Innovation on Literacy Habit Program for Madrasah Ibtidaiyah in Surabaya http://jurnalpai.uinsby.ac.id/index.php/jurnalpai/article/view/369
The improvement of reading competence in Indonesia has not yet reached its maximum point. Indonesia’s achievements in a number of surveys also show poor results. Nevertheless, several cities in East Java have started to initiate the development of the literacy through various programs as an act of reflection on the findings of the previous surveys. In Surabaya, some programs have been initiated by goverment to cultivate literacy such as reading corner book review, book discussion, reading community, and others. These programs are aimed to increase reading interest (reading habit) of children in Surabaya. By using the Community Based Research (CBR) method, this research observed innovation as new programs about reading habit in the 27 Madrasah Ibtidaiyah in Surabaya. The author found that there are five stages of innovation (knowledge, persuasion, decision, implementation, and confirmation) were conducted by Madrasah Ibtidaiyah in Surabaya. The result indicates that all the stages have been done well by the library manager in Madrasah Ibtidaiyah in Surabaya. This can be seen from several aspects such as of the knowledge of the importance of literacy for their students, awareness to change for better future, and a decision to implement some new programs in the development of reading habit
Evi Fatimatur Rusydiyah Hernik Farisia Muhammad Syahru Ahmad Copyright (c) 2021 Jurnal Pendidikan Agama Islam (Journal of Islamic Education Studies) http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/4.0 2021-07-31 2021-07-31 9 1 59 82 10.15642/jpai.2021.9.1.58-81 Pesantren and the Economic Development in the Perspective of Maqashid Al-Shari’ah http://jurnalpai.uinsby.ac.id/index.php/jurnalpai/article/view/1104
Modernization to deliver the process in diversifying the socio-economic role of pesantren is undeniable things. This is then reviewed in the perspective of maqashid al-shari’ah (the purpose of shari’a). Throughout qualitative study, this article explains that pesantren alumni and local society involved in the management of PNQ economic enterprises. Some of developed business unit in the area of agriculture, trading, animal farm, plantation, and mining. Furthermore, the main factor behind PNQ in managing economic enterprises is pesantren sovereignty. It is initiated by kiai (the leader of pesantren). According to him, pesantren can develop rapidly if they sovereign in all aspects. This sovereignty is interpreted as economic sovereignty. However, economic development is as determining factor in supporting the existence of pesantren. Additionally, the development of economic enterprises carries out by PNQ in line with the value of hifdhul maal (the maintenance of property).
